A Slice of Forest Hills: Inside the Neighborhood’s New Go-To Pizzeria

Forest Hills has no shortage of great food, but over the last eight months, one new pizzeria has quickly established itself as a neighborhood favorite—especially for the steady flow of concertgoers leaving Forest Hills Stadium in search of a satisfying bite.

Blending classic New York flavors with refined Italian technique, Forest Hills Pizzeria delivers more than just your typical slice. At the center of it all is Chef Eric, who brings over a decade of experience to the kitchen. His attention to detail is evident in every item on the menu, from the dough to the final plating.

“We focus on doing things the right way—from the dough to the ingredients,” said owner Mr. Kumar. “It’s more work, but you can taste the difference.”

Mr. Kumar is no stranger to the Forest Hills dining scene. He is also the owner of Jade Eatery, a well-known neighborhood staple recognized for its modern Asian cuisine and vibrant atmosphere. His experience running a successful restaurant has carried over into the pizzeria, where the same focus on quality, consistency, and hospitality is evident. With Jade already earning a loyal following, Kumar brings that same proven approach to this new venture—helping position the pizzeria as not just another opening, but a thoughtfully built addition to the community.

That difference starts with the foundation. The pizzeria’s dough undergoes a three-day fermentation process, making it lighter, more flavorful, and easier to digest. Using a Roman-style technique with 80% hydration, the result is a crisp yet airy crust that stands out in a neighborhood known for great pizza.

The slice selection balances creativity with tradition. The Spicy BBQ Chicken slice delivers a smoky, slightly sweet heat, while the Caprese slice offers a fresh mix of mozzarella, tomato, and basil. The Italy slice keeps things classic, showcasing simple ingredients executed at a high level.

Beyond pizza, the menu leans into hearty, crave-worthy sandwiches. The Forest Hills “Hungry Man” sandwich—also known as their loaded BEC—is quickly becoming a go-to for locals. For something with a kick, the spicy meatball sandwich features creamy stracciatella and chili peppers imported from Calabria, Italy, bringing bold flavor to every bite. The grilled chicken Caesar sandwich rounds things out with a balanced, satisfying option.

“Chef Eric’s experience shows in every item—it’s elevated but still approachable,” said Daisy Vera, marketing director for the hospitality group.

The kitchen also delivers on pasta. The rigatoni Alfredo with mushrooms is rich and comforting, while the linguini shrimp scampi offers a lighter, garlic-forward option that complements the rest of the menu.

As Forest Hills Stadium continues to draw crowds for concerts and events, this pizzeria has naturally become a post-show staple. Whether it’s a quick slice or a full meal, the energy inside reflects the buzz of the neighborhood outside.

“We’re building a place people can count on—morning, night, or after a show,” Vera added.

In just eight months, this Forest Hills pizzeria has done what many strive for—becoming a true neighborhood go-to. With a thoughtful menu, high-quality ingredients, and a clear vision, it’s a spot that feels both new and already deeply rooted in the community.

Forest Hills Pizzeria is located at 9 Station Square, Queens, NY 11375 and their phone number is (718) 926-0002.
