To have a little fun on Monday morning, I walked around Brooklyn doing a Man on the street bit.
I had a simple question, before Sunday’s victories for both the Jets and Giants in Week 1. When was the last time this feat happened?
To the surprise of no one, it took New Yorkers a whole lot of guesses to remember when… September of 2009 to be exact.
Its fair to say, its been a while!
Sunday could not have been drawn up more perfectly for the NY Locals.
They both won – and in a matter of fact, in convincing fashion!
The Jets dished a beat down on their former head coach Robert Saleh and the Tennessee Titans.
The final score was 23-10, but the game was never that close.
The Jets scored on their opening possession and simply never looked back.
Im not ready to proclaim 2026 is going to be different in Jets land, but for one Sunday, disaster was very much avoided and happiness was on full display in Nashville and for anyone wearing green.
The Giants experienced similar euphoria in taking down the hated Cowboys in front of a national Sunday Night Football audience.
The Giants bully-ball approach in controlling the line of scrimmage was paying homage to some of the great Giants teams of yester year.
The old school approach was refreshing.
The buttoned up, professional coaching job from John Harbaugh and his staff was therapeutic.
The quarterback Jaxson Dart was inspiring. He was in complete control under center and was flawless on third down, in the red zone and down the stretch.
It was the sort of Week 1 effort that had me potentially changing the calculus for what the ceiling of the 2026 team may be.
All in all, there is legitimate optimism for both squads after one week.
There’s a long way to go, but man I wanna see more!
