The VW Taos isn’t the largest car on the road, nor the fastest, but it still packs plenty of power into a compact vehicle. It’s easy to drive and handle, gets great efficiency, and is loaded with driver-friendly technology and touches.
The 1.5 liter turbo engine provides 174-horsepower and provides 184 pounds per square foot of torque, the same as previous models. The 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive system is advanced for a small crossover, also helping conserve fuel use and enabling additional driving modes for different weather conditions and terrain. Taos gets 28 combined city/highway miles per gallon, with a tank capacity around 13.2 gallons.
Despite its size, there is a surprising amount of room inside the VW Taos, meaning backseat passengers won’t feel too cramped and uncomfortable. Cargo capacity also comes in at 28 cubic feet, expanding up to 66 when the back row is folded.
The SEL trim features additional touches like leather seats (ventilated and heated in the front), a panoramic sunroof, 10.3-inch digital navigation screen, smartphone connectivity and compatibility, and much more.
The 2025 Volkswagen Taos SEL 4MOTION comes in at a starting price of $34,495, with the SEL FWD (Front wheel drive) coming in at $32,995. For colors, you can choose between Deep Black Pearl, Pure White, Pyrite Silver Metallic, Platinum Gray Metallic, Bright Moss Green Metallic, Monterey Blue Pearl, Cornflower Blue, and Monument Gray. A two-tone option with a deep black roof is available for some colors.
