Bamonte’s Restaurant in Greenpoint was the site of an award luncheon last week for Hilary Gingold, Surrogate Judge of Manhattan. Each year Tom Principe and Frank Stemle host the St. Thomas More Award. “Thomas More came up with the strategy of combining the law with equity into one court in the 1500’s – way before it’s time,” said Principe. A group of nearly 40-individuals, which make up the Bishop Iggy Catanello Memorial Commission Organization, celebrated St. Thomas More on Wednesday, July 15th in Brooklyn, by honoring a distinguished individual from the courts. Justice Gingold is a dedicated servant of justice. “From social worker to court attorney, to lawyer to a judge, Hilary Gingold ‘embodies’ what public service is all about,” continued Pricipe. The luncheon is held each year at this time to celebrate history and tradition of the lifting of the Mt. Carmel Giglio at the feast in Williamsburg. This year was the 138th Anniversary of the lifting during the internationally recognized feat of Mt. Carmel earlier this month.
Long Live the New Kings?
The current leadership for democrats in Brooklyn is Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn has apparently not shown enough sensitivity, according to some city political leaders and she is a hair away from losing leadership of the democratic party in Brooklyn. It’s been months, if not years in the making, but the New Kings Dems whose standouts include Lincoln Restler, Antonio Reynoso, Tony Melone and Sandy Nurse apparently have enough votes to replace the six-year leader, Flatbush Assembly Member Bichotte-Hermelyn. Our sources tell us home-grown Julio Peña will be the New King.
