Richard Bergin passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Eileen Ann Bergin, loving father of Richard (Lisa) Bergin, Patrick (Marianne) Bergin, Edward (Gina) Bergin, Kevin Bergin, Sean (Jeanette) Bergin, Eileen (Steve) Cunningham and the lateTimothy Michael Bergin, cherished grandfather of Olivia, Connor, Peyton, Paige, Emily, Cole, Emmett, Paisley, Jenna and Sean, dear brother of the late AnnMarie and Thomas, and also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Bergin was a retired First Grade NYPD Detective, Past-President of the NYPD Emerald Society, and long time member of the NYPD Holy Name Society, the Honor Legion and the F. Kowalinski Post. He was also a 40-year member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3701- Woodside, NY. Richard was also a United States Marine Corps Veteran. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Tim Bear Foundation. Mass of Christian Burial offered at St. Adalbert’s Church on Thursday, June 27, 2023 at 11 AM. Interment followed at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village, NY under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth, NY 11378.
