Queensboro FC’s inaugural academy season is coming to a close this week, but playoffs are on the horizon for the first-year club.
Before they head to Tampa Bay, QBFC II has one match left to play in New York, taking on Pathfinder FC at Deborah & John Danzi Stadium at St Joseph’s College on Wednesday night.
Just a few weeks ago, Queensboro FC put nine goals past Pathfinder, and this week another six will give them the most scored in the division.
“Going to the playoffs and winning the league is what the team and I have wanted since the beginning of the season,” said midfielder Nestor Cabrera.
“We achieved our goal of winning the league and soon it will be time to show the teams in the playoffs who Queensboro FC ll really is.”
The confidence has never been higher for QBFC, who are buzzing at the chance to take on the other top teams in the USL Academy League.
“I see the group training and playing very well and we want to keep this dynamic up for the rest of the time until Tampa,” said Academy head coach Diego Gomez.
“We are working hard to make sure that we show the best version of Queensboro FC II.”
Four opponents in four days await the team in a brutal postseason gauntlet, but this team hasn’t shied away from a challenge all year. They’re hungry to prove themselves and make their mark as Queensboro FC looks to put the finishing touches on a great first season.
