Fine, fresh accessories at Maiko.
If your inner fashionista is dying for a change, when in doubt, accessorize!

To accessorize, by definition, is a verb meaning to choose to wear accessories or, the act of adding accessories to an ensemble. An accessory can be anything to adorn the body such as jewelry, glasses or scarves. Tattoos even count as accessories as they are seen in many fashion publications, are generally accepted in society and are seen on many celebrities in today’s Hollywood.

Accessorizing is attainable for any budget whether your budget is expensive or moderate, loud or soft, limitless or non-existent. To test out our theory, we hit the streets in Forest Hills to get the digs on the accessory situation at hand.

A surprisingly compatible accessory collection was discovered at Maiko, 71-11 Austin Street. The verdict: belts, bags, and earrings for days. If you were stranded on a desert island you still couldn’t wear all of the earrings they have in stock. The pricing was INCREDIBLE, too (earrings for $12.99 and purses for $39.99)! The selection was great; a variety of style for different customer genres. Impressive! Two thumbs up for the staff of Maiko, who were kind enough to show their support during my very important impulse purchase of a pair of new duster earrings.

Movin’ on down the block, we stumbled across a couple of shoppers named Juniper and Nina. They both were accessorized with jewelry from local designers. The statement of their pieces showed true craftsmanship, originality and elite style. We stopped to take their pics, give them high fives and two thumbs up for their smokin’ taste in accessories.

If high end vintage jewelry and designer pocket books are your thing, then head on over to Instant Replay at 72-20 Austin Street. I almost couldn’t get through the door due to the overflowing racks of vintage necklaces, bracelets and mountains of trays of earrings. Having been in business for over 30 years Mr. Pine said his target customer can be anyone from age 12 to 112. His motto states, “Accessories sell!”

With over 30,000 pieces to choose from, if you can’t find something that wins you over in this fine boutique, then we feel sorry for you. Explore the collection of fine jewelry and precious stones, then head over to the Gucci bags - that is, if you can make it past the hundreds of strings of pearls that are calling your name. You absolutely cannot be in a hurry as the choices will lead you to making a much larger purchase than intended. A true wonderland of fashion accessory history - a perfect place to buy that special gift for you, from you!

Animal prints, straw hats with ribbons, large sunglasses and chunky jewelry are back with a vengeance. Exercise your right to accessorize on Austin Street in Forest Hills - tell them The Dress Recycler sent you!
