It'll all be over in two weeks

We're really sorry here at Pol Position if we are boring you to death with this whole special election for the Queens State Senate seat that was forcefully vacated by Hiram Monserrate, but we admit we're a little obsessed, and it seems like there's new developments every single day.

Developments like this: Assemblyman Jose Peralta has been racking up the endorsements at a breakneck speed. Every day some new union, civic association, or former political figure is throwing their votes behind Peralta, but that doesn't mean that nobody is supporting Monserrate.

Last week, some of the district's clergy threw their support behind the embattled candidate, and in the process denounced a campaign by Fight Back New York, which they claim has been engaged in some serious mudslinging aimed at Monserrate for his vote against gay marriage. Monserrate, always the victim.

This wasn't the only appearance Monserrate made with religious overtones. Someone sent us this flyer to a gospel event at Queens Theatre in the Park to celebrate Black History Month. Conveniently, Monserrate is still referred to as “NYS Senator Hiram Monserrate.” Must have been a typo.
