Dear Editor:

This is so sad. Our poor boys and girls are being sent on multiple deployments, each one increasing their chance of severe injury or death while we still enforce that idiotic, "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Clinton, who in 1992 was firmly against the idiotic policy, should be kicked in the backside for caving in and allowing its continuation, especially while contrary to his own conviction.

We are presently approaching the 15,000 gay discharge mark, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Let us hope this president will with a stroke of his pen, erase this blemish from our once proud American tradition of equality and justice.

May he do it in spite of the reliable and never ending, “nay”, “no”, “never”, negative response by the same voices to anything this president proposes? For once may they judge the message and not the messenger?

As for the hardcore homophobes, look at the sunny side; the more gays that are put in harm’s way, the more their numbers will be diminished.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Zizelis

Amagansett

Nicholas, I'm with you on this one and the President should end the policy of," Don't ask, don't tell.
