The Prep came back from a 2-0 first-inning deficit to score twice in the third and fourth innings, once in the fifth and finally claimed the game with a seven-run sixth inning.
This was the second consecutive ‘B’ title for the Prep who last year won their first title since 1989, beating Cathedral Prep in a 14-inning thriller.
This is the second championship in as many years for the Red Storm. The team finished the regular season with a 12-2 record which was a tie for first place. The team had twelve returning players from last year’s championship team including starters Teofilo Ramirez, Mike Zapata, Noel Vargas, Sean Lomax, and Danny O’Brien. With all these returning players the Red Storm was predicted by many throughout the league as the favorites to repeat as champions. This was a very daunting task for Coaches Jason Bigeni, Brian Meehan, and Dan Sinnona SJP’07. The Coaches and the players overcame the challenge of repeating by defeating the Rice Raiders by the score of 13-3.
