No respect

Dear Editor,

The full page ad taken out in the Post and Daily News by the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association is correct on the serious problems politicians and district attorneys have created that have resulted in the diminished capacity and ability of our police officers to do their jobs.

I can honestly say that the quality of life in my community is great thanks to the dedicated and professional police officers of the 107th Precinct. These men and women are out patrolling our streets and interacting with the community in very positive ways.

With the department’s budget being defunded by $1 billion, hopefully there will be no serious reduction in services from the precinct to our community.

That money is needed to help with programs that impact community-police relations, as well as to continue to keep New Yorkers safe.

Some members of the public have also grown increasingly disrespectful of the NYPD, and do not treat police officers with the respect they deserve. We all need to show support for our police officers.

There is always a possibility that when they leave for work, they might not return home.

Sincerely,

John Amato
