Return of the W

Dear Editor,

November marks the third anniversary for the return of W line service to Astoria. The from the Ditmars to Whitehall Street in downtown Manhattan was terminated on June 25, 2010, due to the ongoing Metropolitan Transportation Authority financial crises.

Riders from Sunnyside and Woodside headed for destinations south of Canal Street to South Ferry in downtown Manhattan may transfer at Queensboro Plaza from the #7 Flushing line to the W.

This created some additional standing room for Hunters Point and Long Island City residents attempting to board already packed rush hour 7 trains.

Current and future ferries will provide other transportation options for the thousands of new Hunters Point and Long Island City residents and employees of growing businesses in both neighborhoods.

Sincerely,

Larry Penner

Great Neck
