Terminal thoughts

Dear Editor,

Recent news that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has yet another series of plans for the 42nd Street bus terminal in Manhattan, including relocating to the Javits Center, missed another option.

A better solution is to extend the 7 subway from the Hudson Yards station to New Jersey Transit's Secaucus Junction, and build a new bus terminal there. This would divert thousands of riders from both the 42nd Street Bus Terminal and Penn Station.

Imagine providing a direct connection linking New Jersey, Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal and Queens through a one-seat ride.

It would also afford the Port Authority the ability to renovate the existing 42nd Street Bus Terminal within the existing footprint without the need of significant adjacent private property condemnation.

Sincerely,

Larry Penner

Great Neck
