Begging for help

Dear Editor,

There has been an upswing of panhandling in Glen Oaks recently, seemingly without any results from elected officials.

On August 1 at 2:30 p.m., a teenager was approached by a mentally-disturbed man who said inappropriate sexual things.

The child ran and found and I called 911 as I watched him enter the picnic area of the Queens County Farm. I kept watch as officer from the 105th Precinct arrived and arrested him.

This could have turned out to be more of a worse situation. The community is at risk, senior citizens are at risk, and now our children are at risk.

Why does something get done only after something bad happens? Let's be proactive instead of reactive!

Sincerely,

Nelson M. Flores

Glen Oaks Village
