Meghan Sackman's recent article on a new bill to promote spread of green rooftops brought a smile to my face.

I recalled the look on the faces of the Queens Borough Board over a decade ago when I proposed that the new hangar proposed at JFK include a “green roof.” I advised the members that green roofs have been all the rage in Europe for decades and it's about time we get on board with such forward-thinking.

"What Ivan, you want to paint the roof green?” were the responses I received. I'm just elated at the progress we've made and mindset that now has us going green.
