On bullies

Dear Editor,

A bullied teenager in the Bronx lashed out at those who tormented him, killing one with a knife.

It is a sad situation when parents send their child to school and expect them to be safe. I myself understand what it is like to be bullied all too well. I was bullied as a youth because I was a severe stutter, and kids would make fun of me and made my life miserable.

More must be done to protect our youth in schools. Teachers and parents must be the first responder in the case of a young person being bullied.

When a young person goes on the attack against the bully, the bully wins.

Sincerely,

Frederick R. Bedell, Jr.
