School Motto: Where Smart Girls Become Intelligent Women

What makes Dominican Academy a Top High School? Since its founding in 1897, Dominican Academy (D.A.) has represented the best in Catholic education for young women in New York City. The 2018 Niche school rankings identified D.A. as fifth of the Best Catholic High Schools in New York, as one of the Most Diverse Private High Schools in New York (drawing from all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey), and as one of the Top 50 Catholic Schools in the U.S.

D.A. challenges young women with a comprehensive and rigorous academic program. All of our classes are either Honors or Advanced Placement (A.P.) level. Our curriculum provides a full college preparatory education—from the humanities and language to science and mathematics. Students can choose from over 20 elective courses, such as Civil Rights in America, Intro to Modern Art, and Law and Society.

There are over 30 student run clubs including Campus Ministry, Drama Club, Student Council, Culture Club, and more. We partner with the Frick Collection to offer sketching classes taught by museum professionals, at no extra charge. In addition, we have expanded our Athletics Program to include intramural Tennis and the following Varsity sports: Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Cross Country, Indoor & Outdoor Track, and Volleyball. Our student-athletes compete as members of the CHSAA (Catholic High School Athletic Association).
