Dear Editor,

There are many people these days who say negative things about our Finest at the NYPD, who serve and protect all of us and truly care for the community. Yet these same people rarely say good things when our police officers are compelled to show acts of kindness.

An example like this occurred on April 25 in Little Neck by members of the 111th Precinct, when police officers helped reunite a lost autistic boy with his family.

The boy was found in the P.S. 94 schoolyard and could not communicate, but one of the officers coaxed the boy into a police car and drove him around the neighborhood for 30 minutes hoping the boy might recognize something familiar.

Then officers Daniel Kim and Nick Leo received an emergency call about a missing boy and reunited him with his uncle at a nearby grocery store.

I applaud these fine officers.

Sincerely,

Frederick R. Bedell Jr.
