On June 8, the birthday of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Guggenheim Museum and Google announced the launch of Design It: Shelter Competition. From now until August 23, everyone is encouraged to use the Google Earth and Google Sketchup applications to create and submit designs for 100-square-foot residential and work shelters anywhere on earth.

On October 21, the Guggenheim's 50th anniversary, the two winners of the Juried Prize and the People's Prize will be announced. Competition details are available at www.guggenheim.org/shelter.

"We hope this competition will raise awareness of the role that architecture and design play in everyday life while stimulating a sense of joy for design," said David van der Leer, the museum's Assistant Curator of Architecture and Design.
