If you’re a boxing fan, then you know of Gleason’s gym in Brooklyn as one of the oldest active gyms in the country. However, last week the venerable gym went a little Hollywood when HBO invaded to film a new series.

The show, “Bored to Death,” is based on the novel by writer Jonathan Ames, a boxing fan himself who, when he wasn’t writing books or columns in the New York Press, fought in the ring as “The Herring Wonder.”

Bored to Death stars Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis, and Ted Danson. Schwartzman will play a struggling, near-alcoholic writer, Danson will play his magazine editor, and Galifianakis will play Schwartzman’s best friend.
