Fewer tickets, less trash

Dear Editor:

I have lived in Maspeth my whole life – 50 years - but I have never wanted to leave this town more than I do right now.

Grand Avenue is littered with garbage and NYPD Traffic is over aggressively ticketing parked vehicles with no grace period. I parked in front of Chase Bank and walked to the munimeter and put a quarter in the slot. Before I inserted my second quarter, two NYPD Traffic cops were ready to scan my vehicle for a fine!

This is not the first time this has happened to me. I wonder how many times this has happened to the elderly or handicapped. It is sad to see the NYPD declare war on our little town, which still has hard-working, blue collar, middle-class residents. Why treat the decent taxpaying people of Maspeth so horribly, when money would be better spent cleaning and fixing up the roadways?

Less NYPD Taffic and more sanitation workers! I am moving out of state. I have had enough.

Sincerely,

Name Withheld Upon Request
