The proposed decriminalization of open containers of alcoholic beverages and public urination by the leftist loons in the City Council is just another assault upon law and order to protect miscreants.
The present law is fair, with the issuance of a summons and a clearly indicated court date in which one has the right to appeal and even have a payment plan if convicted. Only if one has outstanding bench warrants is one arrested at the scene.
Non-appearance for a court date results in the issuance of an arrest warrant for any type of criminal summons.
Without this particular law, we shall encourage public drinking and intoxication with its associated crimes and unsanitary streets.
But perhaps decriminalization could be acceptable, if and only if it permits open containers and urination in specified public places: such as in front of City Hall and Gracie Mansion.
