The first team secured their place in the second round of the CSL League Cup via a penalty shoot out against Hoboken Reserves on Randall's Island Sunday afternoon.
Hoboken Reserves took the lead after 30 mins through a penalty after Shamrocks left back Chris Burns was ruled to have fouled Hoboken's striker in the box.
Joey Aronovsky equalized for the Rocks after 40 minutes, displaying fine chest control to take down a ball from Pierre-Alexandre Meloty-Kapella and finished neatly on the second attempt.
Shamrocks goalkeeper James “Scouse” Wright was the hero of the penalty shootout with two fine saves as Rocks outscored Hoboken 3-1.
