Violent youth

Dear Editor:

The recent incident at a Brooklyn McDonald's in which several teenagers attacked and repeatedly beat, punched and kicked another teenager is yet another stark and ominous reminder of how it seems that young people today have lost all respect for others and that they know no bounds.

What is happening to our young people in this country? Are parents teaching them to respect others and act responsibly and decently? Morality and mutual respect for others seems to be sinking as fast as did the Titanic and Lusitania.

Our young people today must be taught that violence begets violence, and that it never accomplishes anything except possible injury or death. Whatever happened to the days when disputes between teens were settled in a more amicable and peaceful way?

Like everything else in this country those days seem to have gone with the wind, never to return, and that does not bode well for the future of this country.

Sincerely,

John Amato
