Amerivents announced last week that it would be hosting an event to interview potential applicants at the Flushing Library on August 11. You must first create a profile on the Amerivents website, and qualified candidates will be invited to the event for an interview. No walk-ins are accepted.
There are a range of positions and time commitments, including some positions that only require working weekends. Most of the openings require that applicant be over 21 years of age because they involve serving alcohol, but there are some jobs for younger people.
Amerivents will hire over 1,200 people for the event, and most will get paid between $8.50 and $14 per hour.
“Many will earn between $1,500 and $3,000 during the three-week period,” said James Della Pace, managing partner with Amerivents. “This can be some pocket money for kids headed back to school, or for adults and families to earn a little bit more money.”
Della Pace said some of the part-time employees could be offered full-time positions with Amerivents, which also staffs the Barclays Center and the cafeteria at J.P. Morgan Chase, to name a couple.
“We have a server from last year's Open that is now a full-time employee with us,” he said.
