Mets Gold Glover and 1986 world champion Keith Hernandez joined Mr. Met last week at a Forest Hills CitiBank on 71st Avenue to meet with his most loyal fans and sign a wide range of Mets paraphernalia.

“It’s a pleasure to be here,” Hernandez said as he met with the long line of supporters. “Mets are playing better and we’ll see what happens in the second half, and no, I’m not coming back.”

The appearance was the fifth on a 20-stop, tri-state area tour at dozens of Citibank branches as part of the Citi Retail Bank Mr. Met Visits outreach program.

Rob Gorman, 35, made the commute to the Forest Hills bank from his home in Astoria that morning, making it to the first spot in the line of nearly 200 by around 8:45 a.m.

“I’m a huge Mets fan,” Gorman said, holding Hernandez baseball cards in anticipation of meeting his childhood hero.

Gorman said he looks forward to adding the autograph to his collection with signatures from Mets greats like Daryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden and David Cone.

“If I had to I would have come earlier,” he added.

As the line wound around the Forest Hills bank, onlookers also filed in after they too were told their idol would soon be there to meet and sign autographs.

Fernando Nunez took the train from LIC and made it to the second spot on line by a little after 9 a.m.

Holding a 1987 Mets yearbook, he too was thrilled to have a chance to meet the Queens legend.

“It will be my very first time meeting him,” he said. “I am very excited.”
