Thousands stood hours in front of their mirrors painting on their makeup and dressing up, or often dressing down, in their finest deep sea-themed attire last Sat., June 21 for 32nd Annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.

After catching a ride on the newly opened Thunderbolt Rollercoaster and historic Cyclone, thousands more lined up along Surf Avenue in the noonday sun to snap a photo and catch a glimpse of the brightly designed costumes.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Charlene led the charge with their children Dante and Chiara who served as King Neptune and Queen Mermaid.

Along with dozens of supercharged vintage cars and oceanic floats, the parade also featured the Coney Island Polar Bear Club, Gotham Girls Roller Derby and others from the waterfront community and beyond.
