In support of Forestdale’s foster care work with over 1,000 families across Queens and the rest of the city, the organizations pulled together over 175 guests for an evening of live music by Flearoy and an open bar sponsored by Baterhouse, Tequila Semental and the Queens-based Finback Brewery.
“At Forestdale, our approach is to look across the country – across the world – for ideas and practices that help the families who come through our doors,” said executive director Anstiss Agnew said. “We partner with socially active organizations like the NYU School of Dentistry and NYU School of Nursing, and when the right models don’t exist, we make our own.”
With their work in tutoring, SAT prep and college application workshops, caseworkers at the fundraiser praised the organization for their work and encouraged others do the same.
“When you go into a house and things are not going okay, everything is chaotic,” said one Forestdale caseworker. “If I’m able to assist a family in helping their child along the way, I feel like my days are productive.”
