The luxury of being able to order wine with just a few taps and swipes of the iPhone has now spread to Queens.

Since the February launch of Minibar Delivery, an iOS app promising delivery of a wide range of wine and spirits to customers in less than 60 minutes, the company has branched out from Brooklyn and Manhattan and is now available in Astoria, Long Island City and Sunnyside.

“We are incredibly excited to launch Minibar in Queens, making home entertaining as seamless and easy as possible in these neighborhoods within the borough,” said Lara Crystal, Minibar co-founder and co-CEO. “With virtually everything available at your fingertips, it’s time to make alcohol just as easy to order to your home.”

Crystal was part of the founding team at Rent the Runway, a clothing startup that raised $51 million in four years from Kleiner Perkins, Bain Capital, Highland Capital Partners and others.

Similar to food service apps like Grubhub and Seamless, Minibar connects app users to their local vendors.

“We were surprised that wine and spirits couldn’t be ordered and delivered with the same ease as groceries and home goods,” Crystal said. “Minibar will change that.”

The app also includes suggestions on how to pair a wine or spirit with certain foods and includes an option for gifting.

Minibar requires identification verification upon purchase, and customers are charged a $20 restocking fee if they are unable to produce age verification.

Co-founder and co-CEO Lindsey Andrews has previously worked with consumer products at Fresh Direct and Soap.com, and most recently helped launch Wag.com, a pet supply website.

“Minibar will undoubtedly resonate with all New Yorkers of legal drinking age and simplify our hectic lives in this digital age,” Andrews said. “We look forward to shaking up the way liquor and wine is purchased and enjoyed.”
