Dispatches from the Inner Circle

This past weekend, the City Hall press corps held its annual Inner Circle variety show, a roast of the sitting mayor that has been taking place since 1923.

Apparently, Pol Position's invitation once again got lost in the mail, so we had to rely on clandestine dispatches from inside the event to know what was going on. And while Mayor Michael Bloomberg used to dip into his largesse to shell out for real-life Broadway actors and actresses for his rebuttal to the press' skewering of his policies, big bucks and diminutive stature, de Blasio's team kept it simple, calling in just a few favors from Steve Buscemi, Cynthia Nixon, and Al Sharpton.

Luckily, we were able to get a few photos from the mayor's office to share with you. De Blasio's portion of the program included a take on Rocky and a parody of the Honeymooners, which according to our insider included First Lady Chirlane McCray and Nixon reminiscing about the days they used to experiment sexually together.

Bawdry!
