Over the past year, Lucho’s Bar in Woodside has been at the center of numerous complaints about noise, used condoms and syringes and arrests for prostitution.

The bar's lease is up soon, but is looking to relocate to 65-12 Roosevelt Avenue from its current location at 38-19 69th Street, Community Board 2 Second Vice-Chait Pat O'Brien said at last week's board meeting.

“The problem is they’re a magnet for activity,” O’Brien said.

O’Brien said he supports good business, but with the amount of violence increasing near the bar, allowing it to remain open is not a smart idea.

Lucho’s has an upcoming hearing with the State Liquor Authority and O’Brien said he hopes the agency will restrict its liquor license or limit operating hours. Furthermore, anyone with evidence of illegal activity that has taken place at the bar should inform the police, he said.

“This just has to do with quality of life,” O'Brien said. “For the community, this is addition by subtraction.”
