The literary community in Queens continues to grow, and soon local writer Audrey Dimola will host a Queens Literary Town Hall.

This is the first event in the Queens Council of the Arts’ 3rd Space Series. It will take place on October 18 at 6:30 p.m. at 37-11 35th Avenue in Astoria, and feature readings and the opportunity to link local literary organizations.

“I have been involved in the literary community both performing and curating events over the past two years,” said Dimola. “I’ve been able to see that things are really happening and growing.”

For example, in recent months Astoria has become home to two new indie bookstores.

“It’s a good time to take a breath and bring people together to celebrate the growth,” she said.

Scheduled to appear at the event are representatives from the Boundless Tales reading series, REZ, Oh Bernice!, Newtown Literary Journal, Astoria Bookstore and Enigma Bookstore.

“It’s going to be informal so that everyone can participate,” she said. “It’s extremely important for curators, writers and literary organizations to communicate and help promote each other.”

The 3rd Space Series is a monthly event that takes place on the third Friday of the month. It invites local artists to host events to build networks.
