A wake was held last week for Gia Allemand, “The Bachelor” contestant who took her own life on August 12, at Papavero Funeral Home on Grand Avenue in Maspeth.

Allemand was born on December 20, 1983, in Howard Beach to parents Eugene and Donna Allemand in Howard Beach. She grew up on Staten Island.

Police officers guarded the door to the funeral home and prevented anyone but family and friends from entering. A funeral director said the family had formally declined to make a comment on the death of Allemand.

Allemand was reportedly distraught over a fight she had with boyfriend Ryan Anderson, a point guard with the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans.

The 29-year-old reality television star wrapped a vacuum cleaner cord around her neck and hung herself.

A funeral was held at Trinity Grace Church in Chelsea, where roughly 150 family and friends came to pay their last respects.
