The Grand Street Business Improvement District (BID) has chosen a new logo to add to the enthusiasm for their active community development in Brooklyn.
After receiving 11 entries from their logo design competition last May, they chose the work from Libby VanderPloeg, a Greenpoint resident who delivered an edgy and energetic design that will now become the proud new face of the community.
“Most importantly, it conveys the diverse, mixed-use public space that makes the Grand Street community so vibrant” executive director Artineh Havan said. “The Grand Street BID is very proud to implement a new logo that is designed by a community member and reflects the community interests we strive to represent.”
VanderPloeg won a $1,000 cash prize for her design.
Michael Shawn Cordero of Freshetic, a clothing boutique on Grand St., took second place in the contest, while Bradford Taylor, a Bushwick resident who often helps with the BID’s advertising and design, took third.
Look for the BID’s cupid on Grand Street during Valentine’s Day, out to brighten up the neighborhood with some holiday love, handing out chocolates wrapped in the new logo.
