On Sunday March 1st the St Adalbert Novice Girl team won the Queens CYO “B” Championship by defeating a tough in St. Luke of Whitestone. In a well played game, St Adalbert scored early and played a great defensive game to contain the high scoring St Luke offense. This group of players endured a very long season filled with playing in a very competitive division, some close game losses, and some wide spread losses. The team never hung their heads, or became discouraged. They simply continued to work hard, improve their individual and team skills, and play with passion as a basketball team. It was a pleasure for the coaches to see them grow as a basketball team and enjoyed being around such a wonderful group of girls.
The playoffs considered of 26 teams and five rounds, and the girls knew that they needed to win five playoff games in a row, a very difficult task to reach their ultimate goal. They made their coaches, parents, and the parish very proud of them. The players would like to thank coaches Christy Calderon and Andrea Bush, both basketball players for Mary Lewis high school, for their time, dedication, and juggling their busy
CYO and Mary Lewis basketball Schedules.
