St. John’s women’s soccer junior Amy Marron was one of 12 named to the 2012 All-Big East Preseason Team.

Marron is the first Red Storm player since Natasha Lee in 2005 to earn a spot on the conference’s preseason all-conference squad. Marron is one of eight juniors on preseason team, which is voted on by the 15 coaches in the league.

As a sophomore in 2011, Marron was named to the All-Big East second team. Moving from forward to midfield, Marron had three assists on the year, including the helper on teammate Jen Leaverton’s goal that helped secure St. John’s Big East Tournament berth.

As a rookie, Marron made an immediate impact on the Red Storm as she started 17 games. She was the only freshman to play in all 18 games and led the squad in points (7) and goals (3), while adding an assist. For her young career, Marron has recorded 10 points and four assists.

The St. John’s women’s soccer season will kick off on Friday, Aug. 17, with a home contest against George Mason at 7 p.m. The Red Storm and Patriots will be the first teams to experience the newly surfaced Belson Stadium.
