Dear Editor:

The situation with North Korea is, at best, very precarious.

The country is saber rattling again, and the United States and the rest of the international community needs to be very wary of this country's latest acts of belligerence. The United States needs to re-evaluate its diplomatic overtures to North Korea, due to all of this rising tension that could ultimately lead to a conflict.

Let us not also forget the dispute that China is having with several of its neighbors over the contested waterways in the South China Sea region. The threat of an armed conflict in that part of the world certainly has increased dramatically.

The international community has a responsibility to reduce the threat of armed conflict in this region of the world via diplomacy. World peace is indeed very fragile.
