Thalia Spanish Theatre brings Columbia’s salsa to Queens

Thalia Spanish Theatre in Sunnyside is back for the fall with an intriguing new show that’s sure to get the heart beat pumping and the feet moving.

“Columbia in its Salsa,” performed with the Mestizo Dance Company and Harold Gutierrez and his Band, will showcase the South American country’s salsa side for five weeks.

A show bound to be fun for the whole family, Thalia Spanish Theatre dares audiences to “exprience the music and dance of the Columbian coasts, with a dash of Salsa and rhythms like Currulao, Porro, Cumbia, Mapale and Salsa Colombiana”

The stunning choreography, sizzling live music and gorgeous costumes will leave audiences walking away feeling revived and ready to take dancing lessons.

The show is running from September30 through October 30.

Tickets are $ 30 for students and for seniors, $ 27. On Fridays, tickets cost only $ 25.

Artistic director-choreographers are Aarmando Moreno and Wilson Fernando Mesa. Dancers include Michelle Jimenez, Sheyla Genao, Vanessa Ascanio, Amalfi Sanchez, Natalia Jimenez, Yolanda Castillo, and many more.

The show will take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m and Sundays at 4 p.m.

Thalia Spanish Theatre is located at 41-17 Greenpoint Avenue, Sunnyside.
