This year marked the third consecutive year that the boys, now men in their 50s, met to play a six-inning game. They named their team “Marty’s Boys,” a direct reference to Rivkin. The men also had official team t-shirts made and hired an umpire for their game.
One of the most exciting aspects for the men was the ability to play on the astroturf field, which they never had when they attended school. The field is part of the new LICHS.
The men enjoyed themselves immensely and played with a “touch” of intensity. The game went well - there were no injuries or pulled muscles, perhaps just a sore arm or two. At the end of this year’s game, the men said goodbye to Coach Rivkin and promised to return the following year for their next game.
