City shouldn't close senior centers

Dear Editor;

The city is planning to close 105 senior citizens centers which I can only say is a great travesty. These senior citizens have worked all their lives and some of them are hurting and are quite needy.

These seniors rely on these centers for meals, education, exercise activities, and for family and friends. Now out of this 105 there will be 22 that will close in Queens. Some of these seniors get their only good meal of the day at these senior centers.

The city ought to be ashamed for what they are about to do. Remember this, these seniors built this city and what it has become today. I think that New York City is slowly becoming the city without pity.

Sincerely,

Frederick R. Bedell Jr.
