Nearly 150 people packed the St. Stanislaus School Hall in Maspeth on Saturday night for a comedy show and dance called “The Honeymoaners,” to raise money for the Maspeth Lions Club.

The Maspeth Lions Club, which also hosts the Maspeth Street Fair, runs events throughout the year (including the upcoming Halloween Parade) for the Maspeth community. They also host a Children’s Holiday Party, donating gifts to children and focus on helping the blind throughout New York. The Maspeth Lions Club has more than 35 members and has been serving the area since 1978.

They raised about $5,000 Saturday night. “We all had a great time tonight,” said club president Michael LoCascio. “And we even gained a new member from the audience. That’s a success,” he said.

The club meets at O’Neill’s Restaurant the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
