Concluding his first visit to Cameroon since he was elected in March, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and his Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya voiced support in a joint statement for a planned multinational task force to fight Boko Haram, which has sworn allegiance to Islamic State. Buhari's visit came after the Nigerian militant group launched a wave of attacks in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger that has killed hundreds of people in the past two months.

"Their status is elevated at the community level," said Eluka Kibona, Tanzanian advocacy and campaigns manager for Oxfam, which came up with the concept of the show. "Her opinion was valued." UNDERPAID, UNDER-VALUED On the model farm, an hour outside Tanzania's largest city, Dar es Salaam, the women compete in farming tasks, a treasure hunt, drawing up a village development plan and setting up rival political parties to vie for election.
