The International Monetary Fund welcomed China's yuan into its elite reserve currency basket, recognizing the ascendance of the Asian power in the global economy. The yuan, also known as the renminbi, will join the US dollar, euro, Japanese yen and British pound next year in the basket of currencies the IMF uses as an international reserve asset. "It is also a recognition of the progress that the Chinese authorities have made in the past years in reforming China's monetary and financial systems," she added.
The State Department released a new tranche of about 5,000 emails sent or received by Hillary Clinton when she served as top US diplomat and controversially used a private email server. The equivalent of 7,800 pages of messages, mostly from 2012 and 2013, were checked for classified information and then made public on a department website: foia.state.gov/Search/Results.aspx?collection=Clinton_Email. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas bail bondsman was charged Monday with assaulting his wife and abusing his missing son, and a prosecutor said the case "escalated into a much larger investigation" when police found unidentified human remains in a barn on the man's property.
