Pro-Russian militants stand guard at the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 near the village of Hrabove, east Ukraine, on July 25, 2014Dutch and Australian forces were being readied on Saturday for deployment to secure the rebel-held crash site of Malaysian flight MH17 in east Ukraine where remains of victims still lie more than a week after the disaster. A truce has been called in the area surrounding the site by both Kiev and pro-Russian separatists, but fierce combat was ongoing just 60 kilometres (36 miles) away, with loud explosions heard at regular intervals in a suburb of Donetsk. As the military pressed on with its offensive to wrest back control of the industrial east, politicians in Kiev were battling to limit the fallout of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's abrupt resignation on Thursday. President Petro Poroshenko has insisted on Yatsenyuk's cooperation until new elections are held.

Striking a populist stand ahead of the midterm elections, Obama is demanding "economic patriotism" from American corporations that seek overseas mergers to avoid U.S. taxes. Obama and congressional Democrats are pushing to severely limit such deals, a move resisted by Republicans who argue the entire corporate tax code needs an overhaul. (AP Photo)WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says a loophole that lets companies dodge U.S. taxes by moving their headquarters overseas is unpatriotic.

Jonah Lomu bursts through two Western Samoan players in the rugby sevens semi-final at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur on September 14, 1998New Zealand got the Rugby Sevens tournament underway at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday on a day when 27 gold medals were up for grabs notably in swimming, judo, shooting and cycling where Australia's Anna Meares will attempt to defend her women's sprint title. The line-up is staggeringly strong for the abbreviated form of the game with all-conquering New Zealand bidding to maintain their remarkable unbeaten record and bid for a fifth successive gold medal that was kicked off by the Jonah Lomu-inspired triumph in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. Of the 15 other teams in the draw, Canada, Scotland, South Africa, Kenya, Samoa, Wales, England and Australia are ever-presents on the IRB's annual men's World Series, underlying the high-quality field and the fact there are only a handful of tickets left for a sport showcasing in a football-obsessed city.
