A boat packed with migrants is attached to a Myanmar navy vessel off Leik Island in the Andaman seaBy Tim McLaughlin YANGON (Reuters) - Myanmar's navy is escorting a boat crammed with 727 stranded migrants to a "safe" location where officials will verify their identities before taking any further action, the country's information minister said on Tuesday. Correcting an earlier comment that the navy was taking the converted fishing boat to the waters of neighboring Bangladesh, Ye Htut said the migrants were headed to an undisclosed but safe area and had been provided with food and water. The migrants were found drifting in the Andaman Sea on Friday in an overloaded fishing boat that was taking on water.

The European Union's statistics office Eurostat said consumer prices in the 19 countries sharing the euro rose 0.3 percent year-on-year last month after a flat reading in April, beating market expectations of a 0.2 percent increase. Excluding the volatile energy prices, which were 5 percent lower in May than 12 months earlier, consumer prices rose 1.0 percent.
