In this Nov. 25, 2014 file photo, police officers watch protesters as smoke fills the streets in Ferguson, Mo. after a grand jury's decision in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. A Justice Department investigation has found patterns of racial bias in the Ferguson police department and at the municipal jail and court. The full report, to be publicly released on March 4, says the investigation found Ferguson officers disproportionately used excessive force against blacks and too often charged them with petty offenses. (AP Photo/Charlie Riedel, File)WASHINGTON (AP) — A Justice Department report says blacks in Ferguson, Missouri, are disproportionately subject to excessive police force, baseless traffic stops and citations for infractions as petty as walking down the middle of street.

Egyptian policemen Awad Suleiman and Mahmoud Salah stand in the dock during their trial in AlexandriaAn Egyptian court upheld a 10-year prison sentence on Wednesday imposed on two policemen for torturing an activist to death in 2010, judicial sources said, an incident that helped trigger the uprising that toppled veteran autocrat Hosni Mubarak. Witnesses and rights groups said 28-year-old Khaled Said died after police beat him outside an Internet cafe in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria. Activists launched an online campaign against police brutality that, alongside other strikes, meetings and rallies, morphed into nationwide marches calling for the dissolution of parliament and the disbanding of the state security agency. Rights groups accused the police of widespread torture during Mubarak's rule.

This undated handout photo issued by the Natural History Museum, shows an artist's impression of how Sophie, the world's most complete Stegosaurus skeleton, may have looked. Scientists at a British museum have worked out the weight of Sophie, one of the world’s most complete Stegosaurus skeletons, it was reported on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. London’s Natural History Museum says Sophie, a young adult when it died, weighed around 1.6 tons and was about the same size as a small rhinoceros. The scientists worked out the dinosaur's body mass after creating a 3D digital version of its skeleton, calculating the volume of flesh around the bones, and comparing the data with information from similar-sized modern animals.
