The Clippers announced on Wednesday they had agreed a contract extension with Rivers, who led them to a franchise-best 57-25 record and a second straight Pacific Division title in his first campaign with the club. His future with the Clippers had become uncertain in the wake of the scandal involving former owner Sterling, who received a lifetime ban from the NBA after racist remarks he made to a woman friend became public. The team has since been sold for $2 billion to former Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer, who praised Rivers on Wednesday.
