Forças de Segurança da Líbia cercam o hotel Corinthia, Trípoli, no dia 27 de janeiro de 2015By Ahmed Elumami TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Heavily armed gunmen stormed a luxury hotel in Tripoli favored by Libyan officials and visiting delegations on Tuesday, killing at least nine people, including foreigners, before blowing themselves up with a grenade. Officials said shooting erupted inside the five-star Corinthia Hotel and security forces evacuated guests, including Tripoli's prime minister and an American delegation, after at least two gunmen blasted through the building's reception. It was one of the worst assaults targeting foreigners since the 2011 civil war that ousted Muammar Gaddafi and fractured the oil-producing North African state into fiefdoms of rival armed groups with two national governments, both claiming legitimacy. "The attackers opened fire inside the hotel," Omar Khadrawi, head of Tripoli security, told Reuters.

Oil prices were up most of the day, tracking the dollar, despite concerns about rising U.S. inventories.

Saudi King Salman and U.S. President Barack Obama discussed stability in the oil market, and the king expressed a message of continuity on Saudi energy policy in their talks, a senior Obama administration official said on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One after Obama departed Saudi Arabia, the official said the two men did not discuss current oil prices. He said the king suggested Saudi Arabia would continue to play its role within the global energy market and that one should not expect a change in the country's position. Obama raised the issue of human rights with the king but did not discuss specific cases, the official said.
