There are currently no plans for joint naval patrols by the United States and India, the U.S. State Department said on Thursday. Reuters reported on Wednesday that the United States and India had held talks about conducting joint naval patrols, quoting a U.S. defense official saying they could include the disputed South China Sea, a move that would likely anger China, which claims most of the waterway. The contributions include a Saudi promise to renew its long-neglected air operations in Syria, a pledge from the Netherlands to carry out air strikes in Syria, and Canada's recent announcement it would send additional trainers to work with local forces.
