Singer Soko attends the premiere of Tribeca Film and Well Go USA's "The Truth About Emanuel" on December 4, 2013, in Hollywood, CaliforniaThe bleak introspection is consistent with her 2012 album, "I Thought I Was an Alien." But while the debut work had a low-fi feel, her second full-length album is marked by a heavier edge, with touches of post-punk icon Siouxsie Sioux in her voice and a forceful guitar that at times evokes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. "My Dreams Dictate My Reality," which is out in continental Europe and was released Tuesday in the United States and Britain, was produced by Ross Robinson, who has worked with metal bands such as Korn and later with The Cure, whose bass-heavy noir is the most obvious influence on Soko.

FILE - In this Feb. 24, 2015 file photo, the Homeland Security Department headquarters is seen in northwest Washington. In a major victory for President Barack Obama, the Republican-led House overcame last-minute opposition from GOP critics on Tuesday and moved toward final passage of legislation to fund the Homeland Security Department without restrictions on immigration. The bill's approval was assured after Republicans demanding the bill include constraints on Obama's immigration policy were turned back on a test vote of 140-278. Obama's signature was assured on the measure, which cleared the Senate last week. Without it, short-term funding for the department would expire on Friday at midnight. (AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta, File)WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress is sending President Barack Obama a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security through the end of the budget year, without overturning the president's immigration policies.

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) arrives to speak at a news conferenceWASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday voted to approve funding for the Department of Homeland Security through Sept. 30 without any immigration restrictions, ending a standoff that had threatened a partial shutdown for the agency. The House vote sends the $39.7 billion spending measure to President Barack Obama to be signed into law. It no longer contains provisions that previously sought to block Obama's executive orders lifting the threat of deportation against millions of undocumented immigrants.
